Embracing diversity is not just a responsibility—it’s a vital part of creating a thriving, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. At Aster Care, we are committed to celebrating and supporting our LGBT+ clients and staff, offering a safe place to be which allows all of the people we come into contact with to be themselves. 

A Commitment to Inclusive Practices

Inclusivity is at the heart of our business values. We believe that everyone, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, or background, deserves to feel safe, respected, and empowered. Our approach to inclusivity goes beyond simple policies and procedures; it’s ingrained in everything we do.

We’ve implemented a series of measures to ensure that our LGBT+ clients and staff to know they are welcomed and valued. Two members of the office team have gained a Level 2 LGBT+ and Inclusion in the Workplace qualification so that we can champion good practice across internal procedures for both clients and staff.   Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy, along with our Bullying and Harassment policy have both been reviewed, and the inclusion of gender neutral language throughout all documents and training is used. 

Tailored Services for LGBT+ Customers and the Community

Understanding that the needs of LGBT+ individuals can be unique, we have developed services and products that cater specifically to this community. We continue with our person-centred approach to providing care services that enable the client to be in control of their care, delivered their way. Whether it’s providing gender-neutral options in our forms and surveys, or offering personalised LGBT+ inclusive care services that respect our clients’ identities and experiences, we strive to meet the diverse needs of every person who interacts with our service and gain feedback during our review process.

Creating an Inclusive Workplace

We are committed to providing a workplace where everyone, including our LGBT+ employees, can thrive. This means offering equal opportunities for growth and advancement, as well as fostering a culture of respect and belonging. . Our feedback from staff supports this and equal opportunities and promotion are available to all LGBT+ staff which can be evidenced over the years.

 

We have an ‘open-door’ policy for staff to come and discuss any concerns, including regularly reviewing if any of our staff has experienced any form of discrimination when supervision is carried out. Any allegations of discrimination are taken seriously and dealt with immediately. Policies and procedures are reviewed at least annually, but also when issues arrive to ensure our approaches are current, inclusive, and working.
